Civionics is the science and application of electronics to civil structures, such as bridges, elevated roadways, and public facilities in order to continuously monitor their health.

As the design and construction of all building types continues to evolve, structure monitoring ensures that they are optimally maintained and that their lifespan is extended. Structural health then equates to fiscal health, especially with regards to publicly funded building projects.
